We're looking for a data engineer to join our implementation team. This role is for a tech-savvy person who will be responsible for using data to ensure our customer's success in using Watershed to improve their business performance. You also must be an outgoing, excellent communicator who understands the importance of providing exceptional client support and is great at handling details.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

The data engineer plays a key role in helping our clients implement and use Watershed by building connections between Watershed and client systems, providing technical assistance, sharing knowledge of best practices, consulting on business processes, and training clients on how to use Watershed.

The right person for this role will carry out technical implementations of Watershed. As part of the client success team, you'll help our clients build their learning data ecosystems. You'll consult with clients on their goals, create related data connections to Watershed, and configure Watershed to ensure that it meets clients' goals.

While you won't be writing code in Watershed's core product, this role still requires some deep technical experience. This role leverages technical capability, critical thinking, and problem solving to address the ongoing technical requirements for successful client implementations, and requires someone who can effectively translate customer needs into real world integrations and data pipelines.

You'll be building the connections between Watershed and client systems, and working closely with the technology team to troubleshoot issues and influence product changes. If you're already familiar with corporate learning ecosystems, that's a huge plus—but not a requirement.

YOU'LL NEED:

  • 3+ years of deep technical experience in software development or data analysis.
  • Experience in Python, REST APIs, data wrangling, and software automation tools.
  • Experience with learning data, xAPI, SCORM, and JSON are a plus.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, problem solving, and analytical skills.
  • A strong sense of ownership, responsibility, and initiative.
  • Flexibility to balance multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment.
  • The ability to work independently, yet function as an integral part of a team.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT:

As one of Nashville's Best Places to Work, Watershed operates as a small company (about 17 people) within our parent company, Learning Technologies Group. We're building the world's most powerful Learning Analytics Platform to help organizations prove the impact of their learning and training programs. We take our work seriously, but we also like to have fun together. We work hard, but we value you as a person and your life outside the office.

And our benefits are so great we call them BetterFits. From day one, we cover 100% of employees' medical, dental, and vision coverage and offer flexible work hours and vacation, just to name a few.

We live by our six Core Values, which define everything about what Watershed is, how we work, and how we interact with each other. So, take the time to learn them and consider how they resonate with you. We expect you to come into every interaction with your work, your coworkers, and our clients with these six values top of mind.

SOUND INTERESTING? APPLY AND:

  1. Tell us why you want to work with us.
  2. Explain what you can bring to our team.
  3. Include your resume, portfolio, or whatever best represents your experience.
