The Opportunity
As the Head of Design —you’re at the heart of creating Universal Tennis’ product experience for the world’s tennis community. We are looking for a design leader who will bring to life world-class experiences through design, prototyping and storytelling. You will also be responsible for managing a team of designers with oversight over our web and mobile applications.
The work you and your team do will shape the way people find tennis events, connect with others who share a passion for tennis and help providers run their business. With this role, you will have the opportunity to work on new experiences including user onboarding, personalization and overall platform engagement.
This position reports to the Chief Product Officer.
What You’ll Do
- Provide design leadership and lead a growing design team
- Work collaboratively to deliver world-class, user-centered designs incorporating requirements and customer feedback
- Develop conceptual diagrams, wireframes, visual mockups and prototypes
- Participate in user research, testing and product discovery
- Communicate design work and negotiate future direction with executive leadership, product management, engineers and peers
Requirements
- 7+ years experience as a visual or interaction designer
- BA/BSc in Design, Human-Computer Interaction or relevant field
- Ability to lead empathetically, fostering an inclusive and empowering environment for the design team to do innovative and impactful work
- An online portfolio demonstrating excellence in thought and execution
- Phenomenal oral and written communication skills
- Strong understanding of the user-centered design process
- Experience designing across multiple form factors from web, mobile and tablet
- Bonus: Portfolio of B2C web, iOS, and Android design projects, experience with two-sided marketplace platforms
