Power BI Developer

Pivotal-i4DM is seeking a Power BI Developer to join our fast-growing IT-project based consulting business. We need a well-rounded team member with a background in SQL, Database Development, Analytics, Reporting, and Data Presentation to support the data visualization needs of a critical, front-line solution for the Department of Veterans Affairs.

The Microsoft Power BI Developer will collaborate with a mix of technical experts and architects, business/product owners, business analysts, technical writers, testers, and scrum masters in an Agile-Scrum environment. Our Power BI developer will need to bring analytical thinking to the role and be able to translate data into informative reports and visuals.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Actively engage in the analysis of report design requirements and participate with Agile team members to understand the business requirements
• Develop visual reports, KPI scorecards, and dashboards using Power BI desktop
• Create reports using Microsoft Power BI including several types like Drill Down, Parameterized, Cascading, Conditional, Table, Matrix, Chart and Sub Reports
• Connect data sources, import data, and transform data for Business intelligence
• Develop tabular and multidimensional models that are compatible with data warehouse standards
• Create models in SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) and/or Azure Analysis Services (AAS) to support report requirements
• Create queries using DAX in Power BI desktop
• Perform data transformations and data cleaning to generate meaningful reports.
• Support analytics initiatives to ensure that the right people are seeing the right data at the right time.
• Actively participate with an Agile-Scrum team.
• Engage with the team to refine and estimate stories in the backlog.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Have a BA/BS Degree in Computer Science or related area or equivalent work experience. 
• Minimum Three (3) years of experience in designing and implementing complex Power BI Reports and Dashboards leveraging Power BI desktop and service. 
• Minimum Three (3) years of experience using DAX and Power Query
• Minimum Five (5) years of experience writing T-SQL queries and development within MS SQL Server
• Minimum Three (3) years of experience with dimensional modeling
• Demonstrated expertise in using advanced level calculations on the data set
• Knowledge of Azure and Azure Data Lake is strongly preferred
• Have solid experience running/participating in meetings with remote team members through collaboration technology
• Have some experience with Agile and collaboration technologies including Jira, Confluence, and SharePoint
• Have solid Client Interaction and Problem-solving skills
• Military experienced candidates are encouraged to apply
