Seasonal Project Assistant - Global Technology Program
Seasonal Project Assistant- Global Technology Program
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Internews’ Global Technology Program (GTP) advances the digital safety of human rights defenders, civil society and journalists, advocates for digital rights and protections for the world’s most vulnerable populations, and works on safeguarding online civic space.
GTP focuses on local and regional needs and connects them at the global level to demand an inclusive, safe, and open web. We seek to build comprehensive knowledge, understanding, and analysis of online harmful speech and its impact on online and offline civic spaces. We aim to counter the impacts of online harmful speech by engaging with social media platforms, journalists, and civil society organizations working on the ground.
The GTP Seasonal Project Assistant will assist with logistical, research, and administrative support for Internews’ GTP’s Protecting Civic Society team. They will have the opportunity to gain experience in program administration and Internews’ work to foster independent media and access to information worldwide. This seasonal position will report to the GTP Protecting Civic Society team and will work closely with the Senior Program Associate.
This is a remote-based position, however, preference will be given to candidates in the United States and those who are able to work in the Coordinated Universal Timezone.
All remote candidates will be considered. However, you must have work authorization in your location that does not require sponsorship from Internews. Additionally, there are locations in which Internews is not able to support fully remote work.
Wherever possible, we work to try to find solutions for international hiring that work for both the company and the candidate. This means that some of the particulars around the offer for a role will be dependent on several factors and that the benefits and salary structure that apply to a position will ultimately be based upon the candidate’s location and where the role is hired.
