Pay Range: $75,701 – $140,700

The Pulitzer Center, a non-profit organization that supports independent global journalism, is seeking an experienced and versatile data specialist for the position of Data Specialist. The successful candidate will join the Environmental Investigations Unit and work closely with our Data Editor and Research Editor.
The Environmental Investigations Unit provides support to grantees and fellows across Pulitzer initiatives, including the Rainforest Investigations (RIN), Ocean Reporting Network (ORN) and Artificial Intelligence Accountability Networks. The first two networks seek to harness investigative reporting and cross-border collaboration to tackle stories at the intersection of climate change, corruption, and governance behind the destruction of our rainforests and marine ecosystems. The AI Accountability Network supports and brings together journalists investigating the impact of AI with an accountability lens, and journalists seeking to use machine learning to augment their reporting capacity on big data projects. Most reporting projects conducted by journalists in the three networks are data-driven and leverage technical knowledge (such as scraping, data analysis, satellite imagery, API or machine learning) to create real-world impact. The Data Specialist will work directly with our editors to support fellows and grantees. In this role, you will:

SCOPE OF ROLE

We’re looking for a Senior Technical Writer to join our Technical Writing Team. In this position, you will review new features with Product Management and develop product documentation and learning materials including user HTML based documentation, reference guides, design guides, installation manuals, help documents, code Snippets, and video-based overviews and tutorials. You will lead projects and mentor other writers. This position requires effective planning, scheduling, research, writing, and collaboration skills.
Ideal candidates will be self-starters, accountable, driven, ethical, hard-working, personable, and persistent. We are looking for someone who has been around web-based, multi-tiered systems. You do not need to be an expert in the software development lifecycle, financial reporting & budgeting systems, databases, programming languages, APIs and the like, but exposure is expected, and this is the world you will live in. You must be effective working independently and with a team.
Minimal travel required, typically once per quarter.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work with Development, Quality Assurance, and Product Management teams to understand OneStream XF Marketplace solution features to translate them into user documentation.
- Produce documentation which conveys complex technical ideas to a potentially non-technical audience.
- Ensure all documentation follows proper publishing and grammar standards.
- Produce release notes, installation, and upgrade guides for major releases.
- Create and edit videos for use on our Learning Management System and in our documentation.
- Reorganize, rewrite, and update existing documentation in MadCap Flare.
- Create documentation from scratch for new products.
- Lead and mentor other writers.
- Help define writing projects and determine priorities in coordination with manager and other writers.
- Develop and establish Technical Writing Best Practices, Content Outlines, Style Guides, Processes, and other Technical Writing guidelines.

QUALITIES OF A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE
We are looking for someone who has been around web-based, multi-tiered systems. You do not need to be an expert in the software development lifecycle, financial reporting & budgeting systems, databases, programming languages, APIs and the like. However, previous exposure is expected to be successful in this realm.
DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Formal Education and Certification
- BA/BS Degree in English, Technical Communications, Technical Writing, Communications, or Journalism. Exposure to Information Technology, Accounting, or Finance is a plus.
Knowledge and Experience
- 7+ years of relevant experience, such as technical writing, product documentation, or online publishing including experience with writing technical customer-facing materials.
- Experience with programs such as MadCap Flare, SnagIT, and Camtasia.
- Ability to work with company stakeholders across functional competencies and management levels.
- Ability to review and correct materials for content, style, grammar, spelling, and compliance with internal and external standards.
- Familiarity with accounting terms and systems is a plus.

About the Role
Coalition is looking for a Growth Lead Analyst to join our team. Data is an integral part of the Coalition decision-making process and learning-based culture. As a key member of the Growth Team, you will help answer the question: How can we dramatically increase the number of successful people with our platform? The Growth Lead Analyst is a key member of the growth team (product, marketing, engineering, and data) responsible for driving significant and sustainable user growth across the lifecycle. This person will help us create data frameworks, build the data collection engine, run experiments, explore the data, and be a catalyst for change through data-driven insights. You will work with a high-achieving and fast-moving team, including professionals from renowned organizations such as the CIA, Facebook, Google, Splunk, Cloudflare, Salesforce, etc. Our immediate growth team comprises iniduals from leading growth companies in the consumer and enterprise sectors. Larger projects you’ll lead include building and maintaining large data sets used by the entire company while adhering to good data hygiene and analytics best practices.
This is a remote position that can be based anywhere in the United States.
Responsibilities
- Perform online campaign reporting, and conversion analyses, and interpret results to develop recommendations
- Package and present analytical findings, effectively communicating complex concepts to various levels of the organization
- Assist the marketing team in setting KPIs and success metrics for large marketing campaigns, ensuring data collection
- Provide actionable insights to optimize campaign performance
- Build and maintain large data sets, adhering to data hygiene and analytics best practices
Skills and Qualifications
- 4+ years of analytical experience, preferably in a SaaS startup environment, required
- Bachelor’s degree in statistics, mathematics, or a related field, required
- Proficiency in marketing analytical software like Google Analytics or similar, preferred
- Strong knowledge of Salesforce, Marketo, and visualization tools such as Looker and Tableau preferred
- Proficiency in Excel, Google Sheets, Terminal/IDE, R, Python, Juptyer, etc. – at least one preferred
- Familiarity with outbound software like Outreach, Mixmax, etc. preferred

- Coalition’s inidual pay is determined on several factors, including but not limited to, location, level, skills and experience. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $87,000 – $135,000, and your recruiter can share more on target salary for your location during the interview process.
