At Doist, we’re building the future of work.
We’re a multidisciplinary, fully-remote, team that’s passionate about creating products, like Todoist and Twist, that improve people’s lives. We thrive on innovating new solutions to old productivity challenges and we seek to rethink how productivity tools are made.
Our Core Values
They are few, but they are mighty. From creating processes to decision-making and recruiting, we build our four core values into nearly every single thing we do.
- Ambition. You aspire to put a dent in the universe. You set high standards for yourself and those around you. You solve issues that have a high impact on our customers and our company.
- Mastery. You care deeply about the quality of your work. You’re continuously learning and pushing yourself to the limits of your ability. As a champion of your craft, you are also a champion of your well-being – you work intensely, then disconnect completely.
- Independence. Others can trust that you’ll deliver on time. You keep your word and trust your teammates to do the same. You are proactive, take ownership, and remain accountable with little or no direction.
- Communication. Your communication is clear, concise, and engaging. You keep others in the loop and never go radio silent. You speak respectfully and foster warm relationships through your interactions. You’re culturally and socially aware and can appropriately navigate social situations.
We invite you to visit our blog to learn more about us, our values, and how we work.

About Crowdbotics
- Crowdbotics is a new way to build software using modular parts and a visual build tool. We’ve made a bet that the people building products and companies around Crowdbotics represent a new kind of software creator that, if we do our job right, will become the new normal for how people build software in the next decade with readymade parts, cloud talent, and automated tools that empower everyone to be a maker. We see this as the future, and our customers, investors, and the market do too. To that end, Crowdbotics is creating what we call an Operating System for Application Development. What exactly does this mean? Contemporary application development requires the use of multiple tools and processes that are often spread across multiple disconnected systems. The Crowdbotics App Builder seeks to unify all these tools and processes into a single system with 4 key facets:
- No-code engine which enables users to build applications without coding, including a way to create database models visually, import screen layouts and designs from common development tools, and visually link screens to external services.
- Workforce management which enables a user to source talent from a curated menu of Crowdbotics experts who can help take your product over the finish line.
- Process and Project Management: We enable a user to manage all aspects of their agile development process, including tasks, milestones, and deadlines.

- Talent is global and we will strive to make it accessible to our customers with minimal effort. We are looking for like-minded people who believe in our mission, and share our vision of a world where anyone can build software – at scale.
- Work on a product used by lots of people that care about what you do.
- Our open systems empower our customers to build future-proof businesses on our platform.
- Focused on results, not on long hours, so that you can have a life and don’t burn out.
- Open internal processes: know what you’re getting into and be assured we’re thoughtful and effective.

Title: Engineering Manager
Location: Home based – Worldwide
This is a general track for first-level engineering management positions at Canonical.
We believe that open source is just starting to transform the tech sector and enterprise compute. Our goal is to make open source easier, more reliable and more secure for deployment and development. We strive to be the provider of most software to most companies’. To deliver on that ambition, our engineers are carefully selected from the applicants across the globe. We select for brilliance and motivation to take open source to the next level. Our engineering managers help teams achieve more than they realised they could, and feel proud of the result.
We believe that Engineering Managers should be outstanding developers themselves. They should be completely at home reviewing a patch or a software design spec. They are trusted engineers who understand the importance of a whole-team effort in creating great products, and who enjoy seeing colleagues develop. They should contribute code themselves to set the standard for coding, but know that the code they write is far less significant than their ability to shape the whole team’s direction, focus and delivery. We grow management skills, and train engineers who are interested in soft skills to be managers.
A typical first-level software engineering team is based in a single time zone such as EMEA or Americas or APAC, with an Engineering Manager and a Senior Engineer dedicated to a single product, who work as a team to shape the roadmap, technical strategy, code, documentation and community engagement. They are both capable of coding, and are both leaders comfortable assigning work and maintaining expectations of delivery. They will both be expected to take management training at Canonical so they speak the same language when it comes to team behaviours, habits, routines, norms and standards, but they focus on different sides of the problem.
An Engineering Manager is responsible for line management and career guidance. The ability to develop engineering talent, to represent your team and product from a technical perspective, and to drive collaboration with other teams and customers are all critical to success in this role.
We have open manager roles across a wide range of engineering domains, including:
- Python and Golang
- C / C++ / Rust
- Data infrastructure
- HTML / CSS / JavaScript / Typescript / React
- Flutter
- Distro packaging and systems
- SAAS and web microservices
- Kernel
- Servers
- Graphics, Browser and Desktop
- Silicon enablement and embedded devices
- Product Security
If your domain of expertise isn’t listed above, yet you feel it’s relevant to Canonical, then feel free to apply anyway. We will route you to the most suitable team.
Location: we have engineering management positions open in every time zone
What you’ll do
- Lead and develop a team of engineers, ranging from graduate to senior
- Work remotely in a single major time zone, sometimes two
- Coach, mentor, and offer career development feedback
- Identify and measure team health indicators
- Implement disciplined engineering processes
- Represent your team and product to stakeholders, partners, and customers
- Develop and evangelise great engineering and organisational practices
- Plan and manage progress on agreed goals and projects
- Be an active part of the leadership team, collaborating with other leaders
What we’re looking for in you
- An exceptional academic track record from both high school and university
- Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or STEM, or a compelling narrative about your alternative path
- Drive and a track record of going above-and-beyond expectations
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- A love of developing and growing people and a track record of it
- Experience in leading, coaching and mentoring software developers
- Organised and able to ensure your team delivers timely, high quality results
- Well-organised, self-starting and able to deliver to schedule
- Professional manner interacting with colleagues, partners, and community
- You have advanced expertise in your own domain
- You are knowledgeable and passionate about software development
- You have solid experience working in an agile development environment
- You have a demonstrated drive for continual learning
- Builds trust, relationships and confidence

We revisit compensation annually (and more often for graduates and associates) to ensure we recognise outstanding performance. In addition to base pay, we offer a performance-driven annual bonus. We provide all team members with additional benefits, which reflect our values and ideals. We balance our programs to meet local needs and ensure fairness globally.

Even if you don’t meet 100% of the qualifications below, please still consider applying. We believe in a holistic approach when evaluating talent for our team.
Metabase is the easiest way for people to get insights from their data, from tiny startups who get up and running quickly to major corporations with tens of thousands of users. That’s why people love us.
We bring data tools with the elegance and simplicity of consumer products to the crufty world of enterprise business intelligence. We provide an opinionated open source starting point for how companies should measure, analyze and share their data, which is used by tens of thousands of companies.
We’re currently seeking a customer-focused and highly technical Success Engineer for our Professional Services team. The Professional Services team will help our new customers get up and running on Metabase and help our existing customers improve and add to their Metabase use. This is a great job for someone who loves data analytics, enjoys helping others, and is excited to work for a startup.
A typical day will involve a mix of: working with our customers to understand their needs, executing the plans you’ve created with our customers to transform data or create dashboards, and providing guidance on best practices. Any given week, you might construct SQL queries to analyze data in Metabase, drop into a programming language to debug an embedding issue, or collaborate with our writing team.
Why Success?
We are the voice for our customers. Our product team reviews our feedback, asks us for advice, and engages with our customers proactively. We have a writer on our team who reviews what questions our customers are asking and improves our documentation, so the next customer doesn’t have to ask. We also work closely with an engineering team focused on critical issues and our escalations, so we don’t have to worry about our customers being impacted by major bugs for a long time.
We’re 100% remote, and our operations are designed that way. People work during the times that work for them. You are not expected to be “on” at all times, and there are no points for responding quickly to every Slack you receive.
We don’t overpromise our customers. Since we’re open source, our customers can see what we’re doing in our Github repository and our roadmap is publicly available for our customers at all times.
Many companies use the word “success” to describe jobs that are really sales jobs or account management jobs with quotas. We are not about that. We’re exclusively here to make sure our open source users, our future customers who are currently on trials, and our current paying customers all get the appropriate help they need to be successful.
If you want to take part and have a voice in a truly growing business, believe that BI analytics should be easy to use and set-up, and that self-service analytics should be a real thing and not just some marketing jargon that people put on their websites, please apply!
Being a Success Engineer at Metabase would be a great fit for you if you:
- Enjoy helping people and solving their problems
- Have a strong technical background (minimum of 3 -5 years writing production code or administering systems)
- Have experience with using data visualization or data analytics tools (bonus if you have experience using Metabase)
- Have experience in a customer facing role on similar team (like professional services or consulting team)
You are an expert in at least two of:
- Running Metabase on a variety of operating systems for multiple years
- Strong background in networking and how web applications function
- Managing servers (either physical, or Docker, or AWS/GCP/etc)
- Managing databases and strong SQL skills
- Front-end engineering
It’s not required, but a plus if you:
- Have experience with open-source products
- Are fluent in multiple languages (this is helpful as our users are world-wide)
