About the company
Aleph is redefining the world of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A). We operate in an established software category with a multi-billion TAM but no clear winner. Weāre here to change that, and our early results are self-explanatory.
Aleph was founded by Albert Gozzi and Santiago Perez De Rosso, two technical founders with backgrounds from Stanford and MIT and experience working at top-tier companies such as Google, Microsoft, and Bain & Company. Weāre backed by top VCs (Bain Capital Ventures, Khosla Ventures, YC, Picus Capital), and work with customers like Turo, Notion, Zapier, and others.
What weāve built so far is the most seamless way to centralize all of a company's financial data ā think expenses from Quickbooks or Netsuite, pipeline forecasts from Salesforce ā and bring it into the tools finance teams are already using. But the vision goes way beyond that. Weāre building the source of truth for a businessā data, and ultimately the platform businesses use to make better decisions.
Weāre way ahead of schedule due to our unique approach, with barely any churn and rapid growth despite no marketing spend to date.
š What we're looking for
We are looking for a Head of Product Marketing, our first marketing hire. We are doubling every 6 months despite spending nearly zero dollars on marketing and not even having a website until recently, and now it is time to amplify our voice in the market.
You will be the storyteller of our product and brand, crafting compelling narratives that resonate with our audience and differentiate us in the marketplace, and creating marketing content that aligns with our brand and product strategy. This role involves a blend of strategy, creativity, and analytical thinking, with a focus on developing and executing marketing strategies that enhance product awareness, drive adoption, and support the overall growth of the business.
A key responsibility will be to collaborate effectively with sales and business development teams. This involves understanding their challenges and translating these insights into targeted marketing strategies and tools, like sales enablement content and product demos, to bolster sales efforts and enhance customer engagement.
As the founding member of our marketing team, you will have the autonomy and resources to play a crucial role in laying the groundwork for our marketing strategy and aligning marketing and sales efforts.
š· What you'll be doing
*
Craft compelling product messaging and positioning that clearly differentiates Aleph in the market\
*
Conduct in-depth market research and utilize the findings to inform product strategy, positioning, and go-to-market plans\
*
Write and oversee the creation of content that effectively communicates Aleph's value proposition and engage our target audience\
*
Collaborate with sales and business development teams and translate their insights into actionable marketing strategies\
*
Create internal and external facing sales and marketing collateral to support sales efforts and drive product adoption\
*
Embrace a versatile role by initiating demand generation experiments across marketing channels\
*
Play a crucial role in building out the marketing function at Aleph\
š About you
Culture fit
*
You have an ownership mentality and are excited to take on responsibility\
*
You thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic, even chaotic, environment\
*
You are comfortable working in a remote team\
Your skills and experience
*
You led Marketing or Product Marketing at a Series A startup that went into hyper-growth mode, or you reported directly to that person\
*
8+ years of relevant experience in Product Marketing or closely related areas\
*

š Mission
The mission of the VP Engineering is to help our CTO build and lead an engineering team where exceptional software engineers are developed, recruited, and empowered to do the best work of their careers.
š¤¹š½āāļø Profile & Experience
* Extremely strong generalist backend eng. experience (no specialization required in specific technologies, although useful if you have it),
* 5+ years of experience leading an engineering function as a CTO, VP, tech lead, etc., leaning in to either leading as a high performing IC or leading as a coach and manager,* Still close enough to IC work (or sufficiently drawn to it) to have direct responsibility for writing and shipping big parts of our roadmap,* Comfort working with business context (e.g. P&L) and translating commercial imperatives (e.g. āgross margin should be X%ā) into both strategic and tactical work for product & engineering,* Experience of the commercial dynamics of enterprise collaborations (e.g. solution engineering) and/or familiarity with approaches (inidually or as a team) to customer relationship management as an engineer,* Adept leading and participating in recruitment initiatives, including technical interviews and assessing for culture (exposure to a wide variety of assessment strategies, e.g. topgrading, is a bonus),* Senior mindset: you might care about hoodies and unlimited PTO, but youāre likely to be more preoccupied with scoping work appropriately, developing your team, and helping people (and yourself) to work in your areas of maximum leverage.šŖ¢ Real Things Youāll Do
Here are some real examples of the sort of work you might expect to do in this role:
*
**Revamp Vocodeās RAG Pipeline**\By now, incorporating a knowledge base as context to an LLM is ubiquitous, but we need to run document retrieval accurately and with as little impact to conversation latency as possible. The VP of Eng. would be tasked with owning this project end-to-end, including:\\* Self-hosting our own vector DB infra to not lose out on network latency,\* Computing state-of-the-art embeddings efficiently at scale (e.g. hosting an open-source model).\\
*
**Work alongside flagship enterprise customers to optimize performance at scale**\Vocodeās enterprise customers are deploying conversational AI into the frontlines of customer support, operations, and sales. Youād have spent time testing and optimizing these deployments, both in direct consultation with technical and commercial stakeholders on the client side, and internally where we can improve Vocodeās infrastructure.\
*
**Help** **figure out our approach to remote work**\We generally believe that early stage startups naturally suit colocated teams because colocation reduces the overhead for information exchange, rapport-building, quick pairing and collaboration on work, etc. Weāre also conscious that many people periodically prefer to work from home in bursts to prioritize productivity, and that a significant amount of talent is outside of our home base (the bay area). The VP Eng. would have been instrumental in shaping this conversation.\

* Create well-articulated, personalized responses for a variety of customer requests* Triage incoming requests and spot trends in customer issues to share with the rest of the team* Identify, reproduce, and report bugs for the engineering and product team* Understand and respond to support metrics and drives for improvement* Document and create assets to support the customerās understanding of the productš Qualifications

In addition to function-specific skills, here are some traits that enable our team members to thrive:
* First Principles Thinking. We believe in breaking down problems into their most basic parts. We donāt reject ideas because they havenāt worked before. We understand āwhy did certain things work?ā and apply it to our situation.
* Ship It & Iterate. Shipping is the starting line for learning. Ship something, talk to users, get feedback, and iterate. We focus on the inputs, on what we can control, not the outcomes. We take our best bets, and donāt fixate on the finish line.* Boldly Honest & Aggressively Considerate. Being boldly honest means we push one another to act from first principles, set and hit goals, and ruthlessly prioritize. Being aggressively considerate means we care about each other as humans to win as a team. We speak up and embrace feedback.* Default Yes. We believe that something is possible unless proven otherwise. Hard problems are often solved by people who didnāt know it was impossible.Weāre also inspired by the culture work done at other companies and plan to develop our own playbook here too. Healthcare needs good data. For patients, that means taking ownership of their records and understanding what is in them. For researchers, it means transforming piles of messy medical records into structured, research ready datasets. At PicnicHealth, we build technology that makes both of these possible. We do this by working directly with patients and leveraging state of the art machine learning to retrieve and process medical data in any form that it exists. To date weāve helped tens of thousands of patients securely access their records and proactively contribute to advancing research in diseases that impact their lives across a large spectrum of observational studies and drug and disease registries.
Founded in 2014, PicnicHealth partners with 12 of the top 20 biopharma companies and has raised over $100 million in venture capital from investors including Amplify Partners, Felicis Ventures, and B Capital Group.
And we are just getting started! If you are looking to join an award winning, mission-driven, motivated team that is making a real impact across millions of peopleās lives, PicnicHealth might just be the place for you.
The Opportunity
PicnicHealth requests and processes tens of thousands of pages of medical records each week to build a timeline of each patientās healthcare journey. For those willing to contribute their data to research, we then assemble some of the richest real-world evidence datasets available. This process is made possible by systems and applications that we develop in our Data Production squad. Central to Data Production is the HIPE application (Human-in-the-Loop Processing Engine), which uses sophisticated machine learning and carefully-designed UI/UX to help experts quickly and accurately extract data from medical records as we receive them. Data Production also includes the tooling and processes used to bundle together and deliver data for research.
