Functions

  • Work in cooperation with Purdue for Life Foundation units and Purdue partners to create effective designs that are in brand and meet design deliverable standards. Prioritize projects for Office of Industry Partnerships and Purdue Global.

  • Work closely with the Art Director and Purdue for Life Foundation Marketing and Communications design colleagues to conceptualize and create a wide variety of print collateral; digital art, such as social media and email/web banners; environmental graphics, such as tradeshow, conference, and special event materials; and development of proposals.

  • Manage the production of communication pieces with vendors, from gathering print estimates to proofing and delivery method. Develop relationships with external vendors to ensure on-time completion of quality deliverables within budget.

  • Assist with presentation development in PowerPoint and other tools.

  • Provide art direction to photo shoot coordinator and photographers as needed; assist on site at photo shoots and video production.

  • Edit photography according to university and Purdue for Life brand guidelines.

  • Work collaboratively and collegially with colleagues to complete projects on time and with high quality.

  • Collaborate and contribute to the design process through participation in creative discussion, contributing input on the overall look of marketing materials and seeking inspiration through research of design trends.

Additional Responsibilities

  • As needed, attend and participate in Purdue for Life Foundation sponsored programs and events.

  • As needed, assist other Purdue for Life Foundation designers.

  • As needed, work in cooperation with Purdue University Marketing and Communications, trademarks and licensing, Kaplan North America, and freelancers.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Demonstrate excellent design, typographic, and visual communication ability (portfolio review required—send access with application).

  • Ability to communicate ideas visually and verbally with great attention to detail.

  • Ability to follow Purdue for Life and Purdue University visual branding guidelines.

  • Thorough understanding of design and printing processes.

  • Professional competency with Adobe Creative Suite with an emphasis on InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator.

  • Strong computer skills; working knowledge of MacOS, MS Office, and other similar software.

  • Solid problem-solving and decision-making skills.

  • Ability to manage several projects concurrently, prioritize assignments to meet deadlines, and adapt quickly to changing priorities while working in a fast-paced team and client-driven environment.

  • Ability to analyze and organize groups of information in a comprehensive visual manner. 

  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues at different professional and experience levels.

  • Ability to receive, respond constructively, and implement feedback.

  • Self-motivating and ability to work with minimal supervision.

  • Produce high-quality, error-free work.

  • Regular and reliable in-person attendance is a requirement of this position.

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required in visual communications design, graphic design, or related field.

  • Three to five years of experience in design or publishing profession. 

  • Experience preparing files for production.

  • Experience working in an in-house marketing/design department a plus.
