Legal Director, Compliance & Litigation

We are seeking a talented, highly motivated team player to serve as Legal Director, Compliance & Litigation, supporting the continued growth of Dataiku globally. This role will be instrumental in developing and implementing compliance programs and priorities, and leading litigation strategy and support for a fast-paced company.

The Director, Compliance & Litigation will initially report to the Chief Legal Officer and play a key role in the successful execution of the compliance long term road map, including advancing our risk controls framework, anti-corruption program and investigations processes; and develop and lead litigation strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the definition, implementation and ongoing improvement of compliance programs and processes across the business.
  • Manage and evolve the compliance program to ensure that it is consistent with the values and principles of the company, and complies with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and execute annual compliance risk assessment; develop strategies for implementing risk management processes to enable accurate enterprise risk reporting and support board reporting.
  • Evaluate the continuous identification of weaknesses in compliance risk controls and work with the business teams in overseeing periodic monitoring and testing.
  • Lead in formalizing various compliance policy-to-process initiatives, collaborating with cross-functional partners and stakeholders to drive built-in processes reducing compliance burden within business operations.
  • Develop and deliver regular values-based business ethics and compliance training with a practical, process-driven approach to enhance Dataiku’s ethical culture and support actionable metrics.
  • Oversee hotline and reporting enhancements to respond to any identified weaknesses and deploy cross-functional processes for investigating reported allegations of employee misconduct and violations of Dataiku’s Code of Conduct and policies.
  • Conduct and lead timely investigations into any allegations of impropriety and report on findings and, where appropriate, any recommendations for improvement.
  • Provide expertise and guidance to internal stakeholders on appropriate compliance with anti-bribery and corruption laws, financial crimes compliance, and emerging regulations across ethical AI, data privacy, and ESG.
  • Collaborate with information security and technology teams to support compliance and business objectives associated with information security.
  • Willingness to travel to New York City, Paris and other locations, as needed.
  • Willingness to adapt schedule to US Eastern time zone, as needed.
  • Undertake other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years relevant experience in compliance, litigation, audit and/or risk management roles.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience, including direct people management.
  • Strong personal ethics, integrity, and accountability with the ability to advocate compliance with gravitas, maintain high independence and confidentiality.
  • Advanced working knowledge of the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and similar international laws with multi-jurisdictional and cross-cultural experience.
  • Experience designing and rolling out anti-corruption or financial crimes compliance programs.
  • Experience in leading and managing high-risk internal investigations.
  • Strategic thinker able to drive compliance roadmap forward with enthusiasm and ownership.
  • Experience in risk management with committee and board level reporting an advantage.
  • Ability to navigate gray areas and multi-cultural differences with sensitivity, and ability to and prioritize a erse and complex workload.
  • Understanding of ESG related opportunities and risks and ability to play a role in monitoring the regulatory landscape and develop responsive processes and strategies.
  • Ability and willingness to travel as needed.
  • Degree in law, business or compliance related degree.
  • JD and/or MBA preferred.
  • CFE or CCEP certification is advantageous.

Compensation and Benefits

The final compensation package for this role will be determined during the interview process and is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, geographic location, internal equity, education, skill set, experience and training. Eligible roles may also be entitled to receive commission or other variable compensation through Dataiku’s incentive compensation program.

$245,000-$280,000 USD
