Senior Development Writer

Location: Global/Remote Term: Full-time 40 hours a week (exempt) Organization: Global Greengrants Fund Salary: Salaries at Global Greengrants Fund (GGF) are dependent on applicable salary scales, and internal pay policies including equity considerations and budget. Due to how salary negotiations perpetuate existing structural inequities, GGF has moved away from salary negotiation processes for any candidate. We will make our best offer, and it will be the same regardless of the candidate. The salary range for this position for someone in the USA as per workband S is between $62,250 and $83,000. Benefits: Group medical and life insurances. Paid time off (10 vacation days in the first year, 12 sick days, four personal days, and up to 11 paid public holidays). The Senior Development Writer needs to understand the challenges and opportunities that come with these transformations and be able to remain flexible, steady, and adaptable while inspiring the team through change.

The Role:

The Senior Development Writer requires strategic thinking, excellent project management skills, an ability to nurture effective collaborations, analytical thinking, strong writing skills, and deep knowledge and embracing of Global Greengrants Fund’s mission, values, and goals. The Senior Development Writer role is one of GGF’s principal storytellers, manages complex proposals, and collaborates consistently with various teams for external communication. This person is responsible for writing persuasive fundraising and institutional development materials for a wide range of audiences, including foundations, governments, corporations, and iniduals. The Senior Development Writer sets the tone for Global Greengrants’ written engagement with donors that can be used by the Development Team in stewarding donors and engaging prospective donors. This role oversees the timely creation and maintenance of a wide portfolio of compelling stewardship materials, including text that translates the vision, learning, and work of Global Greengrants into language that is accessible, engaging, and reflects our values of equity and inclusion, and guides the Grant Writer in the completion of tasks delegated to that position.

The Senior Development Writer is a member of the Development Team, and in the present accountability structures is line managed by the Co-Directors of Philanthropy while building and working in more self-organized and collaborative ways.

The Candidate Profile:

Successful applicants will have significant relevant experience in similar roles in non-profit environmental, development, social/environmental justice, feminist, gender, human rights, philanthropy, movement building, and/or funding organizations. Exceptional written, expository, and verbal communication skills in English are a must, with demonstrated composition/spelling/proofreading skills; excellent understanding of the rules of English grammar and syntax to write clear, concise, and compelling fundraising collateral material and thorough knowledge of the fundamentals of writing, grammar, syntax, style, and punctuation.

They would have good knowledge of issues in environmental philanthropy and grantmaking. They can demonstrate an ability to research material related to and write in a variety of styles for audiences including iniduals, foundations, and corporations, and a demonstrated knowledge of the philanthropic goals and preferences of such organizations. They should have organizational and research abilities, with strong attention to detail and accuracy, including analyzing large amounts of information from disparate sources and synthesizing it into cogent and concise written form.

They should have excellent interpersonal understanding, relationship building, and interpersonal skills to build strong alliances with erse constituencies and manage complex politics, positioning, and relationships. They also thrive in a virtual environment, motivated to take on challenges and collaboratively find innovative and creative solutions.
