Say Hello to Mila

Clean air is one of the four basic necessities of life, yet most of us are airblivious. At Mila, our mission is to bring every family back from airblivion and shape the healthy home of the future.

Mila Cares, Inc. is a San Francisco-based consumer electronics startup, with a fully distributed team around the world. Mila was started by three dads who wanted better for their own kids, turning a passion project into something that now powers more than 200 million hours of cleaner air (and counting) each year for families everywhere. We are backed by the late Paul Allen’s venture capital arm, Vulcan Capital, and two of the largest consumer brands in the world, including Electrolux. Our first product was a record-setting hit on Kickstarter, generating nearly $2M in pre-orders and winning TIME Magazine’s Best Inventions of 2021. Our second product won the CES 2022 Innovation Award in Home Electronics. We have a lot more in the pipeline and are looking for the next generation of talented, thoughtful leaders to help us bring these to market.

At Mila we use the word “thoughtful” in everything we do – from our mission, to our product decisions, to our customer and team interactions. We know our customers buy our products for the health of their loved ones and we take that responsibility seriously.

The Role

As Mila's founding art director, you’ll have the opportunity to guide the visual narrative for a refreshingly thoughtful brand – one whose brand mission is to cure the world of airblivion, helping every family breathe easier, and live healthier. We’ll look to you to help evolve our brand story, and work closely with the team to develop and execute on a creative strategy that’s inspiring, measurable and scalable. .

Key Responsibilities

  • You’ll help steer the creative ship by setting a consistent look and feel.

  • Developing and executing on a creative strategy that can support the brand’s growth goals, with a keen understanding of how platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Google, video, TV, etc. work.

  • Manage and prioritize multiple workstreams and ensure all deliverables consistently reflect our brand voice.

  • In your first 60 days, you’ll work on building key assets and setting up a process that allows for rapid creative iteration.

Key Qualifications

  • 5+ years of creative/brand work, having taken brands from inception to household names. You know what it takes to both tell and amplify a great story.

  • You're someone where design just courses through your veins :) You know what it takes to put together visuals that stand on their own and tell a story.

  • You’re able to present a portfolio of work that highlights your understanding of innovative tech trends (and not being afraid to lean into it), an impeccable command of delivering strong creative, and an innate understanding of what makes something “sticky”

  • Your written and verbal communication skills are second to none, and you can clearly paint both the larger creative vision as well as get into the nitty gritty of what’s needed to make it happen.

  • Experience building and leading a creative team, and fostering a constructive feedback loop that pushes everyone to do their best creative work and let the best ideas rise to the top.

  • A curious, growth driven mindset. You’re always looking for ways to improve and delight, and putting the customer at the core of your process.

  • Empathy — most importantly, you care, and love creating thoughtful, personal experiences at scale.
