Principal Security Architect/Engineer

The Punchh Security team is focused on making security better for our SaaS platform, mobile applications, and API endpoints. We are looking to hire a Principal Security Architect/Engineer in a multi-function role that combines elements of DevSecOps, engineering, application security, and architecture.

The Security Team enables the secure design, development, operation, and usage of our SaaS platform, and is looking to both strengthen existing security architecture and build out Offensive Security and Penetration Testing capabilities. This inidual will take a lead role in the formation of these programs as well as lead software engineering projects relating to security.

Pay Band

The base salary range for this position is $181,875 to $219,531 USD per year commensurate with geographic remote work location, experience, skills, certifications, education, and prior accomplishments. The position may be eligible for additional compensation, including a bonus, commission and/or equity, as applicable.

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for a Principal Security Architect/Engineer who can take charge of securing our SaaS platform, mobile applications, and API endpoints. You will be responsible for driving security architecture goals, harmonizing infrastructure security controls, and implementing cutting-edge security solutions. Your expertise in AppSec, threat modeling, and secure architecture, along with your ability to lead transformational security projects, will be instrumental in strengthening our security practices.

What You will Do and Be Responsible For

• Be the technical thought leader for the mobile, web, and API endpoint functions of PAR Technology.
• Lead organizational efforts to secure and align with best security practices for our web and mobile applications.
• Drive security architecture goals across the Engineering function, providing guidance and leadership where required.
• Drive the harmonization of infrastructure security controls across a multi-cloud environment with a variety of operating models.
• Identify current gaps and enhancements in our mobile and SaaS security used by PAR’s customers and implement solutions and controls using the latest technologies and architecture.
• Actively participate in security team meetings that facilitate secure design.
• Assist with the implementation of new security controls, including the setup of POCs and evaluations of various vendor solutions.
• Drive and implement enhancements to security across the delivery pipeline, including DAST and other open-source tooling.
• Remain current with new security threats and assess systems to ensure they can defend the business.
• Implement and improve security assurance, DevSecOps, vuln management processes for the Corporate Security team.
• Regularly monitor the security community for public-facing security issues as well as to learn new tactics for securing data transmissions and reducing attack exposure.

Why We Need You (Skill and Abilties)

• Experience in developing tools using Ruby and Golang to enhance security capabilities, or proficiency in Python, PHP, Java, or a similar language will also be considered.
• Self-starter with a sense of urgency proven experience in guiding engineers to solve security problems quickly and independently and then continuously improving the initial solution, balancing short and long-term goals.
• Over 7 years of experience with AppSec, threat modeling, and secure architecture.
• Knowledge of, and ideally direct experience in the implementation of customer identity solutions such as Okta, Auth0, Cognito, or similar products.
• Real-world experience in endpoint protection solutions in the area of malware detection, vulnerability scanning, DLP, etc.
• Knowledge or experience of penetration testing tools and methods.
• Knowledge of security testing tools and techniques.
• Strong communicator who is comfortable working cross-functionally, with a track record of delivering results and demonstrating strong ownership.
