We're a small, fast growing remote team of around 35 team members from around the world, composed of dedicated and talented iniduals with a core focus on engineering and product.

< class="h2">About the role

Voiceflow's engineering team places heavy emphasis on augmenting the capabilities of an inidual through automation. We are looking for self-motivated iniduals who have some industry experience in testing and intermediate experience in coding. As a Test Automation Engineer, you will be primarily responsible for building tooling to reduce manual toil and enforcing testing patterns to improve team performance. Though you are primarily acting as an enabler for the team at large, you will also periodically take part in end-to-end testing with the team prior to major changes/releases. 

< class="h2">What you'll do

Knowledge 

  • Work with cross-functional teams to understand the complex interactions between systems 
  • Provide feedback on the testability of architectural changes and technical designs for systems 

Design & Architecture 

  • Develop and improve existing test automation frameworks (i.e. make them faster, more flexible, and easier to use) and utilize parallel processing or grid systems to speed up the tests 
  • Improve frameworks within code to provide more descriptive, extensible, and intuitive testing systems 
  • Design test automation at all levels - unit, integration, functional, end-to-end
  • Develop efficient and effective quantitative methods and guidelines to continuously improve quality processes and practices across multiple projects

Analysis 

  • Analyze bug creation/reporting to discover application code that requires more rigorous testing
  • Analyze team systems & functions to discover unique opportunities for testing (fuzzing tests, load tests, performance tests)

Communications 

  • Work with non-engineering stakeholders to create testing plans 
  • Mentor team on testing best practices and philosophies 
< class="h2">What you'll bring

Knowledge 

  • Experience with standard patterns for testing RESTful HTTP services
  • Experience with standard patterns for testing React components (react-testing-library, enzyme, etc.)
  • Experience with web application testing frameworks (Selenium Webdriver, Marionette, Puppeteer, Cypress, Nightwatch, etc.)
  • Chaos engineering experience (nice to have) 

Analysis 

  • Test metrics to measure not just product and test process quality
  • Analyze bug creation/reporting to discover application code that requires more rigorous testing
