About the Role:

As an early member of the Retain data science team, you will work with some of the largest enterprises in operationalizing predictive and prescriptive use cases that help customer facing teams increase customer value. You will work directly with data scientists, software engineers, and subject matter experts in the definition of new analytics capabilities that are able to provide our customers with the information they need to be more productive and effective in their customer facing operations. You will help find the appropriate machine learning / data mining algorithms to answer those questions and implement those within the Retain product so they can run at scale.

 

Retain’s product offering is meant for all users - executives, managers, and iniduals - and can be used across functions - sales, customer service, HR, engineering, and more. As a data science lead, you will be helping drive the customer value with thought leadership and scaled solutions to solve problems ranging from helping executives prioritize investment budgets of 100s of millions of dollars to enabling iniduals to be more efficient and drive work-life balance.

 

Qualified candidates will have an in-depth knowledge of most common machine learning techniques and their application. You will also understand the limitations of these algorithms and how to tweak them or derive from them to achieve similar results at large-scale.

What We’re Looking For:

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of professional experience applying ML, ideally in a customer facing role.

  • Deep understanding of common ML techniques (regression and classification, timeseries analysis, supervised & unsupervised learning, and deep learning).

  • Strong mathematical background (linear algebra, calculus, statistics, optimization).

  • Strong coding skills in Python (or similar object-oriented programming language).

  • Ability to drive a project and work both independently and in a team.

  • Smart, motivated, can do attitude, and seeks to make a difference.

  • Curiosity and willingness to learn about our customers.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication in English.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of git and experience with JavaScript, Java or Scala is a plus.

  • Experience with scalable ML (distributed systems, MapReduce, streaming).

  • A portfolio of projects (GitHub, papers, etc.) is a plus.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide thought leadership and guidance to internal and external stakeholders across a wide range of use-cases and data science techniques.

  • Research, design, implement, and deploy Machine Learning algorithms for Retain’s product offering that can be delivered through a SaaS offering to customers..

  • Assist and enable Retain customer teams and customers themselves get value out of Retain’s product and data using AI/ML

  • Lead a small technical team on a customer initiative, identify use cases, analyze data, build hypotheses, prototype models, and deliver product features and presentations on R&D efforts.

  • Contribute to the design and implementation of new product features.

  • Supporting hiring and training a high performance data science team.
