We’re doubling down on the data and this is a golden opportunity to join the group on the ground floor and you’ll have the opportunity to not only define and execute the overall Aduro data strategy, but also to build and shape the culture of the data team.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with business leadership to understand desired business outcomes and to develop data solutions to achieve those desired outcomes
  • Interact with various business stakeholders to understand business strategies, use-cases, scenarios, gaps, issues, and requirements to create relevant data strategies and approaches. Some examples of the requirements are data ingestion and data extraction/reporting.
  • Analyze, develop, implement and support the enterprise data lake and enterprise data warehouse.
  • Recruit, coach, mentor, and motivate a team of data architects, data developers, and data scientists
  • Establish, communicate, and lead the adoption of data standards and best practices, including data governance
  • Evaluate new technologies and approaches that lead to scalable, global data platforms
  • Lead the team to design, prototype, and implement new machine learning system architectures and predictive models with a focus on classification and inference from time-series data.
  • Lead the team to use statistical methods and machine learning techniques to create scalable prediction systems.
  • Lead the team to conduct exploratory analysis - go deep into the data to develop hypotheses and answer complex metric-driven questions.
  • Lead the team to make recommendations for new metrics, techniques, and strategies to improve methods to prioritize the performance of the platform.
  • Establish scalable, efficient, automated processes for large-scale data analysis, model development, model validation and model implementation.

Requirements

  • Bachelors (Masters or PhD is a plus) in mathematics, statistics, computer science, physics, machine learning, micro-economics or other quantitative field or equivalent years of experience
  • 10+ years of experience
  • 5+ years of hands-on, enterprise-level data architecture experience, including leading company-wide adoptions and program/project delivery
  • 5+ years working as a Data Scientist, Applied Researcher, or Machine Learning Scientist
  • 5+ years of professional experience with a scripting language with fluency in Python and SQL.
  • Experience in evaluating new technologies for unstructured big data, such as Hadoop, NoSQL, Graph, and Hadoop ecosystem
  • Exemplary communication skills, both verbal and written, ability to work with large cross-functional teams of technical and non-technical members.
  • Knowledgeable in two or more of the following: machine learning, information retrieval, statistical inference, and time-series analysis.
  • Understanding of ETL tools and techniques
  • Understanding of database design and data modeling
  • Understanding of data modeling concepts
  • Demonstrated good data management practices
  • Deep understanding of statistical analysis and experimentation, and capacity to drive conclusions from the analysis in a scientific way.
  • Experience working with large-scale data platforms such as Spark, Hadoop and cloud-based computing (preferably AWS).
  • Ability to work across disparate data sources to obtain sensible results
  • Experience leading and managing a technical team
  • Proven track in leading, mentoring and growing data team
  • A strong passion for data, charts, analysis, trends, and evangelizing data usage with experience in data visualization software such as Tableau, and Power BI.
  • Experience in managing stakeholders and distilling complex requirements into analytical solutions
  • Linux skills is a plus.
