Job Summary

The Assistant Manager Accommodations will lead a team of Accommodation Consultants responsible working directly with associates, leaders, and Human Resources, in the management of associate’s workplace accommodation requests. The Assistant Manager will serve as a subject matter expert, providing guidance and expertise for unique and complex accommodation requests around accommodations, in accordance with applicable laws and local regulations, including FMLA, ADA, and ADAAA.

This role is responsible for ensuring an inclusive experience by ensuring the team provides accommodations that enable associates to perform the essential functions of a job and to enjoy equal benefits and privileges of employment. This is accomplished through building relationships and effectively advising and influencing leaders and HR Business Partners. The assistant manager must balance the accommodations processes, with state and federal disability and accommodation laws. The assistant manager will be responsible for continually evaluating processes for efficiency and effectiveness, including the accuracy and timeliness of the cases handled by the Accommodations Consultants.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leads a team of Accommodation Consultants responsible for accommodation case oversight and management of process from the initial case review of medical, interactive process, accommodation implementation and documentation
  • Reviews and evaluates unique and complex accommodation requests and recommends appropriate accommodation options in case escalations, while coordinating efforts with other stakeholders
  • Consults with Legal, when needed, on actions taken regarding accommodation decisions
  • Maintains subject-matter- expertise, by keeping up to date with a changing laws, regulations, and external accommodation environment, and seeking out knowledge building through external resources (DMEC, JAN, etc)
  • Effectively advises and influences Human Resources Business Partners and leaders regarding legal requirements, options, risks, and outcomes
  • Oversees documentation of processes, policies and job-aids to ensure accuracy and simplification for associates and leaders
  • Supports and implements any reporting obligations in coordination with the Legal Department
  • Leverages data and experience to proactively identify, analyze, and address opportunities for improvement of processes, trends, and shifts in data/experience, potential legal risks and reduction of legal claims, track and improve outcomes, and build capability of partners and team membersPartner with Manager, Legal and vendor to deploy process improvements
  • Partners with Management, Legal and vendors to deploy process improvements
  • Identifies options and methods to expand and improve processes, as well as the Company’s ability to accommodate employees and mitigate risk. Monitor and research internal and external resources and subject matter expert organizations for the most up-to-date expertise, and determining how to apply them to our roles to accommodate

Responds to changing priorities to meet deadlines, demonstrates sound judgment when responding to requests for data and/or sharing of data and handling confidential, non-public or otherwise restricted information with integrity

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience
  • 5 years experience managing cases and providing consultation regarding disability, accommodation or leaves that include return to work programs
  • Subject matter expertise in ADA/ADAAA, FMLA, and similar state and local laws. Working knoweldge of workers’ compensation
  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, analytical and organizational skills
  • Experience managing or partnering with a third-party administrator
  • Experience working in a multi-state and multi-site organization
  • Experience working in a large-scale, complex, and fast-paced environment
  • Able to work effectively at all levels in the organization
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills. Including the ability to communicate complex topics in a simplified manner

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2 years prior management or leadership experience

Pay Range

Pay Range for CA, CO, NJ, NY, WA: $78,800.00 – $131,300.00 annually
