About the role 🚀

We're looking for a Founding Engineer to join us in building the future of how B2B sales teams will leverage video to engage with their prospects and close deals.

As previous Go-To-Market execs, Nick (Co-Founder, COO) and I (Joshua - Co-Founder, CEO) know how to identify the needs of our users and build an enduring company, but we're looking for a talented and equally hungry Founding Engineer that wants to make an epic product & company.

You will play a key role in the early design of our web application architecture and the development of our Engineering and Product teams. You will have the opportunity to not only architect and build systems, but also shape the organization itself. This is a high ownership, impact, and visibility role in building a product that will directly impact the future of Vector. Vector engineers will become an expert on the industry and spend time talking to users, planning our product roadmap, and working on go-to-market initiatives. As an early member of a new team, you’ll also play a major role in shaping the team’s culture and organization to help us scale.

What You'll Do

* Have complete ownership in translating product roadmap to code (we're looking for someone with strong opinions who can level us up, and understands the balance between moving quickly and building for scalability)

* Ship new, innovative technology at a high velocity* Listen to users and help shape what we build* Make recommendations on Product/Engineering team growth (with potential to lead, if interested)* Push the boundaries of browser-side video editing (or at least the perception of \"video editing\"... #HTMLCanvas)* Build scrappy (and eventually scalable) video hosting and serving infrastructure* Innovate with technology like AI voice/video synthesis, real-time notifications, etc.

What We're Looking For

* 3+ years building in a production environment

* Experience with standing up a variety of early stage backend concepts: user management, access control, Stripe billing, endpoints/business logic, early stage database design* Bonus: server-side video technologies (FFMPEG, CDN, object storage) - we'll probably use video.api for encoding/scaling so not a dealbreaker* You're okay with monoliths, moving quickly and your brain doesn't explode when your try/catch doesn't have retry logic (at least on day one)* Act like an owner: Autonomy in a role that will supercharge your growth both professionally and personally* Ready to build a culture that will be the foundation of this business for decades* Ability to communicate clearly and empathetically with folks who have different working styles* Previous leadership experience to include hiring, onboarding and training a successful team, is a plus* This position is for U.S. based applicants only
