RESPEC is an IT consulting and services company that seeks a senior database architect who will provide support to the Indian Health Service Software Engineering and Support Services (SESS) federal contract. The inidual will work in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment and is responsible for owning and supporting multiple project priorities. This role will be client-facing; thus, the candidate must have the ability to interact successfully with internal and external clients to understand client needs and resolve issues. The desired location for this position is Albuquerque, NM, but will consider remote work arrangement for qualified applicant.
Responsibilities:
The following responsibilities are included with this position:
- Advanced knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques used in all phases of database development, coding, and design, including business analysis, event modeling, logical and physical database design, data access analysis and design, database management systems (DBMS) optimization, archive and recovery strategy, load strategy design and implementation, security, and change management.
- Design, code, maintain, and enhance relational databases.
- Analyze and determine information needs and elements, data relationships and attributes, data flow and storage requirements, and data output and reporting capabilities.
- Develop data modeling and be responsible for data acquisition; access analysis; and design, archive, recovery, and load strategy design and implementation.
- Coordinate new data development and ensure consistency and integration with existing data warehouse structure; review business requests for data and data usage.
- Research data sources for new and better data feeds.
- Participate in continuous improvement efforts to enhance performance and provide increased functionality.
- Design data structures to accommodate database production, storage, maintenance, and accessibility.
- Develop screens and queries; test designed applications.
- Provide technical support and guidance to users.
- Maintain current knowledge of relevant hardware and software applications as assigned.
- Potentially serve as team or technical task lead and provide guidance and training to junior level staff.
- Participate in special projects as required.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Master’s or bachelor’s degree (technical discipline preferred).
- 10 years of industry experience with 7 of those years specialized in working with large datasets.
- May substitute master s degree with 12 years of industry experience and 9 years of specialized experience.
- Experience in designing data solutions within cloud platforms (e.g., Microsoft Azure) using technologies such as Azure Data Factory, Synapse, Cosmos DB, Azure SQL, and related.
- Solid experience, preferably as a lead or an architect, in designing and implementing data warehouse, Architectures, OLAP technologies, data modeling, Change Data Capture, and BI visualization.
- Possess detail-oriented and good problem-solving skills.
- Team player who works well with clients and colleagues at all levels.
- Excellent time-management skills with the ability to work on stringent deadlines.
- Ability to obtain a Public Trust Level 5 clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of Indian Health Resource and Patient Management Systems, or any other major electronic health records system.
- Experience in building data as a product in a cloud environment (SaaS).
- Hands-on experience with big data ETL technologies (e.g., Hadoop or Spark) and experience in working with query engines (e.g., Presto, Snowflake, or other open-source big data Query & ETL engines).
- Advanced SQL and programming experience with Python and/or Scala.
- Experience in leveraging DevOps and DataOps tools and principles in delivery.
- Experience in developing CI/CD processes and procedures with teams in delivery.
- Knowledge of professional software engineering practices and best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source-control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
- Understanding of and ability to explain complex technical concepts.
- Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously with the skill to prioritize projects.
- Proven ability to work effectively on a remote/distributed team.
Compensation: Salary depends on experience and expertise.
