The RoleOur Thick as Thieves team is building a new kind of immersive simulation game focused on multiplayer action-stealth. We are looking for a designer who can help us push the boundaries of this genre and deliver an experience players have never seen before. This effort depends on integrated, systems-driven gameplay that empowers players in a richly simulated, immersive environment where customization, exploration, and invention are at the heart of the experience.Our ideal Narrative Designer is a master storyteller. Working closely with our award-winning Lead Designer and Creative Director, as well as our talented artists, engineers and designers, the ideal candidate will produce compelling narratives that shape each player’s journey. You collaboratively own the game's lore development, narrative beats and voice-over lines. This is a unique blend of bringing the world to life and developing compelling character arcs that players want to invest in.This position will report to our Lead Designer, who will guide you on the game’s vision and collaborate with you on the expression of that vision. As a member of the design team, you will collaborate with other designers in other specialties, giving and receiving feedback to help shape the whole experience and ensure its consistency and authenticity.Job Responsibilities* Create and maintain the Lore Bible including all aspects of worldbuilding and narrative consistency* Author compelling storylines for inidual characters including identities, backstories, and lore* Author narrative beats for each character’s nonlinear quest progression* Author dialogue lines for NPCs from barks to full conversations* Implement written content in editor* Collaborate with the team to develop narrative systems and UXAll Qualified Candidates Will Possess * 2-5 years experience working in narrative design or writing* An excellent portfolio* Must have 1 or more shipped AA titles on PC or Console* Experience developing written content for nonlinear narrative systems* Familiarity with the immersive sim genre* Strong collaboration and coordination skills, highly detail-oriented* Able to accept and provide constructive feedback and maintain a professional approach * Passion for game development and immersive storytelling* Creativity and imaginationExceptional Candidates Will Also Have* Knowledge of action-stealth game design principles and theory* Familiarity with Unreal Engine 4/5 and Blueprint scriptingAdditional NotesThis is presently a contract, remote role.Our people-first approach to game development celebrates ersity, and strives to create a safe and inclusive working environment where everyone is treated equally, with dignity, and with respect.
