Dapi: Head of Legal & Compliance Role

Dapi is a YC-backed company developing a platform for developers. We provide Fintech APIs to connect to banks, move, and store money. Our vision is to offer inclusive, borderless financial services by bridging local payment methods to stablecoins.

We are currently seeking a seasoned Head of Legal & Compliance to oversee the building of our compliance team.

Key Responsibilities

* Build strong relationships with our financial partners.

* Manage the compliance team and meet Dapi's compliance obligations by building policies and procedures.* Work with the product & engineering team to define and build a strong compliance technology stack leveraging AI to automate KYC/AML workflows.* Hire and manage the compliance team.* Manage external counsel relationships.* Manage crypto & BAAS programs to meet the compliance requirements of financial partners & regulators.* Advise on risk mitigation and appropriate processes for crypto and cross-border money movement.* Proficiency in the regulation of financial services, digital payments, and processing (e.g., BSA/AML, OFAC, Patriot Act, Nacha Operating Rules, Reg E, EFTA, open banking 1033 rule, and end-user privacy).* Work with GTM teams to evaluate global regulatory requirements and compliance guidelines in the company’s target geographies.* Evaluate agreements and Marketing disclosures presented to customers and end-users.* Take a hands-on approach to oversee and resolve compliance-related issues such as KYC, KYB, AML, and ongoing monitoring.* Liaise communication between Dapi, auditors, and regulators.* Advocate for Dapi in conferences, lobbying groups, and build relations with partners and regulators.* Serve as the General Counsel, overseeing all legal aspects of the company (a plus)* Knowledge of securities laws in context of crypto (a plus)

Requirements

* Experience in establishing and negotiating partnerships with financial institutions.

* Demonstrable experience working with Fintech/web3 companies.* Demonstrable knowledge of operating banking as a service programs covering cards, lending, payments, accounts, dispute programs, and partners' Marketing disclosure.* Experience in building, evaluating due diligence policies, procedures, and compliance checklists.* Problem-solving skills for emerging technology solutions within existing regulations.* Excellent leadership & communication skills.* Collaborative and able to work with cross-functional teams.* JD or Master's degree in Law, Business, or a related field.* Ideally 6+ years in experience (is a plus)* Stone preference for in person
