JOB SUMMARY/OVERVIEW

As a Business Relationship Manager (BRM) for IT, your main responsibility is to act as a liaison between the IT department and the rest of the business by establishing, maintaining, and enhancing relationships with internal stakeholders. Your role involves managing communication and expectations between these stakeholders and IT, ensuring that IT is delivering the services and solutions that are needed to support the business’s goals and objectives. In short, the BRM is the main point of contact between IT and CSO, Sales, finance, marketing, HR, and other departments that rely heavily on technology for daily business.

The BRM is integral to our ability to “drive towards collaboration and a culture of creativity, innovation, and value, that reflects the business strategy as a whole,” according to the BRM Institute. It’s a vital role for companies that realize the value provided by an IT organization that is unified with the rest of the organization, operating as a strategic partner to business leaders.

The BRM works in concert with Product Management to ensure that solution integrations between IT and the Platform are seamless and effective. The BRM works at a high-level, overseeing the relationship between IT and multiple departments and they are responsible for building and managing a team that can work in one specific business unit as a liaison between IT and another department as workload justifies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build and maintain relationships with business stakeholders at all levels of the company to understand and anticipate their needs
  • Act as a single point of contact between the business stakeholders and IT, managing expectations, and ensuring that IT is delivering the required services and solutions
  • Develop a deep understanding of the business’s operations, processes, and priorities to guide the development of IT solutions
  • Coach business leaders on how to communicate to IT what they need to improve business performance
  • Develop multi-year business capability roadmaps with enterprise architecture, evaluated quarterly to account for changes in business priorities
  • Review requirements with stakeholders, change management and business transformation teams to ensure successful development and adoption of solutions
  • Develop a “healthy and well-managed initiative portfolio” with the PMO
  • Participate in the development of business cases for IT investments and initiatives
  • Track and measure the value delivered by IT to the business, communicating this value to business stakeholders
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings
  • Maintain creativity and innovation by staying on top of industry and technological trends
  • Communicate with business leaders on emerging technologies and trends that could impact the business
  • Communicate with business leadership to evaluate joint initiatives and proposals to see how they align with their established roadmaps and business priorities
  • Identify business value when developing ideas with a focus on digital awareness, risk assessment, business continuity and business capability requirements
  • Identify strategic business function opportunities both short-term and long-term and track adoption across the relevant departments
  • Build and manage a relationship team to oversee “convergence and strategic partnering” across the organization, including with executive and senior leadership
  • Engage with project and program leads from each business unit to ensure they understand the objectives for joint strategic efforts
  • Ensure joint initiatives are set up for success and align with the corporate strategy

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • MBA preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Business Administration

Experience:

  • Minimum 10 + years of related experience in IT
  • PEO experience is a plus

The salary range for this role is $149,100 to $294,000. The candidate’s final salary offer will be based on the candidate’s skills, education, work location and experience.

A candidate’s compensation may also include bonuses consistent with TriNet’s corporate bonus plan.
