Novipro is looking for a Java / Big Data Developer. This is a 12 month renewable mandate for one of our well-known clients in the banking industry. This mandate is in hybrid mode, a minimum of 2 days in the office in downtown Montreal. Are you interested?

This is a central and dynamic position as you will contribute to the department digital transformation.

In this role, you will be able to combine open-source technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, Spark and Presto, to build and develop the next generation of our Finance & Risk global platform.

Through this platform, we will be able to integrate new regulations (European and American) into our Information Systems, and deploy two Market Risks' metrics: VAR (Value at Risk) and SVaR (Stress Value at Risk) to help our clients measure and assess market risk.

As a Java Developer, Big Data, you will participate in the design, development, and implementation of our new Risk and Finance platform along with the optimization (UX) of one of our proprietary SG systems.

As we are building a brand-new team within the Finance, Risk & Market Data global group, you will oversee the following missions:

• Collaborating closely with the team based in Paris;
• Building, developing, and maintaining the code allowing the integration of market risk indicators and their distribution
• Designing and developing back-end data services and REST APIs while ensuring good code quality
• Designing, building, and deploying optimized solution using Big Data Technologies
• Implementing software components of highly available, scalable and robust cloud services.
• Responsible for project technical and functional documentation
• Mentoring and coaching future joiners.
• Continually assessing emerging technologies to identify opportunities, trends and best practices that can be used to strengthen our platforms and development practices, and add value to our products
• Seeking continuous improvements of our development practices and tooling and promote ideas within the Agile scrum framework

< class="h1">Your profil

As a Java / Big Data developer, you will bring your expertise in code development, system design on Java platform and Big Data.

< class="h2">The technical skills:

• You have 7+ years of development and architecture experience with Java (ie. Java 8), building multi-threaded applications and services in an Agile environment
• You have good experience utilizing Big Data technologies, such as Hadoop, Kafka and/or Apache Oozie
• You have good experience using Apache Spark;
• You have 2+ years of experience with Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery using modern DevOps tools and workflows such as git, GitHub, Jira, Docker, and Jenkins
• You have 3+ years of experience with agile development (Scrum, Kanban, etc)Test Automation (behavior, unit, integration testing)
• You have previous experience with Oracle SQL or PostgreSQL or similar RDBMS background

< class="h3">Bonus skills:

• You have good working knowledge of the following:
  • React/Angular
  • Azure Cloud solutions
  • Azure Datalake
  • ActivePivot (DataLake) or equivalent such as SSAS, SSIS or SSRS
