The purpose of the Legal Assistant Consumer Litigation position is to support all aspects of the Company’s management of contested litigation.

Outcomes and Activities:

  • This position will work from home; occasional planned travel to an office location may be required. However, this position is permitted to work at an office location if requested by the team member.
  • Manage the intake, initial assessment of, and timely and compliantly responding to all contested deficiency lawsuits, claims against the Company, attorney letters (Contested Matters) and subpoenas.
  • Provide recommendations and support on Contested Matters to Company attorneys
  • Timely escalates potential issues to Company attorneys and outside counsel. Receive, log, review, investigate, and make recommendations on Contested Matters and subpoenas served on the Company
  • Monitor and report on the status of Contested Matters to ensure that they are properly categorized and responded to in a timely and compliant manner
  • Manage discovery requests, including preparing initial response and finalizing with the support of Company attorneys
  • Oversee aspects of the Company’s relationship with law firms
  • Assist as needed in investigating and responding to other consumer complaints

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Be self-driven, motivated to help, and able to perform with minimal supervision in a team environment
  • Ability to communicate respectfully, clearly, and concisely to all levels of the organization, consumers, and dealers
  • Ability to remain positive, professional, determined, calm, and focused when faced with challenging situations
  • Be organized and capable of meeting all deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple requests with strong attention to detail
  • Open and receptive to ongoing feedback aimed at improving performance
  • Demonstrate strong analytical skills

Requirements:

  • High school diploma
  • 3 years of recent and equivalent work experience in the legal field
  • Knowledge of Microsoft suite of products

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Experience in the financial services industry

Targeted Compensation: $21.51 – $28.68 /hour
