OTA Insight is a commercial platform for the hospitality industry (our clients are AirBnb property owners, inidual hotels and major chains like Hilton, Accor, etc.). These are exciting times at OTA Insight: we recently raised another round of funding ($80 million) and we have welcomed two new companies, Transparent and Kriya, to our organisation that will expand our product portfolio! To accomplish our ambitious plans we are growing our Engineering team.

As a Data Science Team Lead, you will be a leader & mentor to a team of Data Scientists with a full range of seniority. You will be responsible for stakeholders management and driving the roadmap of Data Science research related to existing product solutions.

In this role you will be partnering with multiple different stakeholders, such as our product & design teams, and our truly inspiring team of technical experts on various subjects (DevOps, data engineering, data science, fullstack, security, …). Additionally, you will be responsible for the happiness and growth of Data Scientists in your team.

This is a high-impact role within OTA Insight which combines people and technology leadership.

Responsibilities

• Drive product innovation (in partnership with Product Management):

  • Deeply understand our product and business strategy and client needs;

  • Actively participate in the product ideation and be a critical voice in the process;

  • Own a backlog of product related data research initiatives.

• Be the bridge between business stakeholders and your team:

  • Coordinate between different stakeholders;

  • Gather requirements and translate them into clearly defined tasks;

  • Document & verify high-level architectural decisions related to Data Science;

  • Partner with product & engineering leadership to define strategy and vision on technology, product or team-related topics and take responsibility in defining how that impacts your team.

• Be a great leader:

  • Plan and prioritise work within your domain roadmap, absorbing planning complexity for team members;

  • Be a sounding board to the team and share the knowledge and expertise;

  • Review Data Science projects and take action where necessary;

  • Support team members in their personal and professional growth;

• Grow a great team:

  • Hire, develop and coach an exceptional team of Data Scientists;

  • Ensure scalability of processes and best practices in your team.

• 5 years working in a Data Science role:

  • Understanding the steps required in cleaning and transforming datasets;

  • Strong expertise in statistics;

  • Knowledge of standard ML techniques;

  • Ability to derive and clearly communicate insights from a dataset;

  • Experience with a modern Data Science tech stack (jupyter lab, cloud infrastructure, etc.).

• Proven record of management skills:

  • Comfortable delegating work through a team of both juniors and seniors;

  • Ability to coach a team, both the juniors and seniors;

  • Actively addresses problems when identified and assumes responsibility for work;

  • Able to lead, prioritise, delegate and inspire in an ambiguous, highly dynamic, and highly demanding technology environment.

• Willing to acquire deep knowledge of how revenue management and distribution works within the hotel industry.

• Pragmatic in problem solving and decision making.

• Is a clear communicator in decisions and the rationale behind them.

• Preferably, has successfully participated in product ideation processes.
