< class="h3">The Role

This position will work to solidify and execute on the product strategy for Open Up Resources’ portfolio of curriculum products. This strategic scope includes currently planned product development for print and digital delivery, as well as a forward thinking view for growth of the Open Up catalog.

The Director of Product will translate overall business strategy from our leadership team into execution-ready product strategy. This position will partner with those responsible for content development on the Academics team, as well as the Product and Engineering team responsible for design and delivery of that content.

The Director of Product will serve as a key leader driving our product strategy, from roadmap to launch, and will monitor the ongoing quality and impact of our curriculum products and services.

 

< class="h3">Primary focus and key responsibilities:

Work with Open Up Resources' Chief Operating Officer and Managing Director of Product Engineering to outline print and digital product strategy.

  • In partnership with Senior Product Managers, effectively prioritize efforts across initiatives, teams, functions, and external partnerships, documenting plans via Open Up’s Product Roadmap.

 

Become an expert on the overall Open Up Resources product catalog, understanding areas of strength and opportunity.

  • Identify methods to present innovative instructional content in our programs, resulting in higher quality teaching and learning experiences.

 

Work with our Chief Academic, Equity, and Social Justice Officer to identify and research emerging areas of anti-racist and culturally relevant educational products.

  • Present these findings with recommendations for implications to product design and curriculum delivery.

 

Identify trends and growth areas in the PK–12 education space to be utilized in identifying growth areas for Open Up Resources’ current and future products.

  • Collaborate to ensure all product development and revision efforts are aligned with and driven by overall product strategy.

 

Formulate plans to gather feedback specific to our product design and usability from stakeholders and users.

  • Maintain a deep understanding of educators’ curriculum challenges and prioritize solutions that drive growth and customer retention.
  • Track and analyze use of our programs via open digital applications.

 

Work closely with Sr. Project and Sr. Product Managers across the full product life cycle, from user research to requirements refinement through prototyping and production.

  • Maintain a comprehensive view of all products and programs planned and underway.
  • Collaborate with Sr. Product Managers to see feature development through from concept to launch, from post launch analysis to ongoing optimization.
  • Understand milestones, prioritization, and coordination of multiple streams of work.

 

Work with the Academics and Product teams to support content finalization and translation of content to our final product presentations.

  • Ensure clear understanding of responsibilities and ownership at critical milestones.
  • Ensure instructional intent is upheld in final products.

 

Identify key performance indicators for our products, set expectations with all relevant stakeholders, and regularly report on these KPIs.

< class="h3">Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience in product leadership, including hands-on prioritization and requirement specification.
  • 5+ years of professional experience specifically in the areas of curriculum development and instructional design.
  • Deep familiarity with long-term and short-term trends in K-12 education in and out of the classroom.
  • Solid understanding of the extension of curriculum content to both print and digital applications.
  • Demonstrated data-centric and listening-led leadership, with confidence to e deep into product performance metrics and to seek insight from user research.
  • Passion for building great products and commitment to growing and developing a team while collaborating in cross-team environments.
  • Excellent communication, time management, conceptual, organizational, and analytical skills.
