Software Engineer – Cody Strategy
Remote
ALL SOURCEGRAPH ROLES ARE FULLY REMOTE
Who we are
Our mission at Sourcegraph is to make it so that everyone can code, not just ~0.1% of the population. Our code graph powers Cody, the most powerful and accurate AI coding assistant, as well as our Code Search product, which helps devs explore their entire codebase and make large-scale migrations and security fixes. We’re building software that builds software, and in doing so we’re making devs more productive and preparing for a world where a lot more code gets written.
It’s an exciting time to join Sourcegraph. AI has taken over the world, and we’ve spent the last 10 years building infrastructure that’s integral to making AI generated code more powerful and accurate. Our customers include 4/5 FAANG companies, 4 of the top 10 banks, government organizations, Uber, Plaid, and many other companies building the software that pushes the world forward. We’ve raised $225M at a $2.625B valuation from Andreessen Horowitz, Sequoia, Redpoint, Craft and others. We’re making ambitious bets on our future and we’re looking to hire exceptional people to join our team as we make Sourcegraph one of the biggest and most influential companies in the world.
Working hours
Given that we are an all-remote company and hire almost anywhere in the world, we don’t have a location requirement for this role. However, this person will be needed to work 4pm to 10pm UTC Monday to Friday.
Why this job is exciting
Cody is an AI coding assistant that lives in your editor that can find, explain, and write code. Cody uses LLMs and the Sourcegraph search engine and code graph, providing answers that eliminate toil and keep human programmers in flow. You can think of Cody as your programmer buddy who has read through all the code on GitHub, all the questions on StackOverflow, and all your organization’s private code, and is always there to answer questions you might have or suggest ways of doing something based on prior knowledge.
The Cody Strategic team is aimed at turning the largest, most world-recognizable brands into Cody Champions. We do this by partnering with a small number of highly engaged strategic customers to build product functionality that enables these customers to successfully deploy the most-loved coding assistant, but at massive scale. You will work closely with the ML Infrastructure team, all the Cody teams across Cody’s e2e service stack, and teams across Sourcegraph to bring the best-of-class coding assistant to your favorite big brands. The Strat team focuses on one or two projects at a time, delivers and scales them, and then works to hand them off to the other Cody teams so that it just becomes part of how Cody is operated. This is high-impact work and has the attention of the entire company. You will be supported by Eng, Design, Product, Legal and the go-to-market teams, and you are joining a team of very talented and experienced engineers who have already accomplished amazing things in a short time. They will be there to help you hit the ground running and guide your work.
Within one month, you will
- Start building a trusting relationship with your peers, and learning the company structure.
- Be set up to do local development, and be actively prototyping.
- Ship a substantial new feature to end users.
Within three months, you will
- Be seen as a subject matter expert in all things Cody at Sourcegraph.
- Be contributing actively to the world’s best coding assistant.
- Be following all the relevant research, and conducting research of your own.
Within six months, you will
- Be fully ramped up and able to anticipate the needs of strategic customers.
- Be ramped up on other relevant parts of the Sourcegraph product.
- Be helping design and build what might become the biggest dev accelerator in 20 years.
About you
You are a full-stack software engineer with at least 2 years of industry experience, equally comfortable with frontend and backend work as needed, with the ability to pick up frameworks quickly and deliver high-quality work. Ideally, you have worked directly with enterprise customers as a SaaS developer. Or perhaps you have worked with internal customers on large cross-functional projects. You should enjoy cross-functional, cross-company collaboration, since that is the bread and butter of the Cody Strat team.
Our Strat customers are typically deployed with complex legacy configurations, and we often need to build bridges into those systems. Much of the Strat work is becoming ML-oriented in nature, as our investment in Cody AI increases and our Strat customers become early adopters. LLMs and their ecosystem are at the core of Cody’s architecture, so you ideally have prior experience working with LLM-based applications, and should be seeking to increase your knowledge of AI/ML as the space quickly evolves.
Requirements:
- Comfortable with developing and deploying software and services on at least one major Cloud provider, with preference for experience with GCP, as most of your Cloud work will be on GCP.
- Comfortable with at least the basics of Docker, Kubernetes, Linux, and systems programming
- Experience with Go (minimum) and in an ideal world, TypeScript, Java, and various scripting languages
- You have used Cody and understand Cody’s current architecture, and you have your own opinions about the directions it could and should go next.
Nice-to-haves: (All optional, but each would enable you to have even higher impact.)
- Postgres. If you have very deep Postgres experience, you may be in luck.
- Node.js. Cody’s cross-client logic is largely in Node.js, and being able to contribute there is helpful.
- Understanding of the modern LLM ecosystem especially as it pertains to coding and AI assistants, including the basics of prompt engineering and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) applications.
- Understanding of compiler construction, and experience working with tools that work with code. We have a code graph that is central to Cody’s operation, and you may be working with it at scale.
- Frontend programming with React. If you have this specialty, it’s often in demand on this team, e.g. for delivering new administrative workflows and user onboarding experiences.
- Rust. More and more of our code is being written in Rust, and you may need to fiddle with it at some point.
- Kotlin and Java Swing, since one of our flagship Cody clients is IntelliJ, and it is often in need of Enterprise-specific features to help close large deals.
- Plugin development with Neovim or Emacs. Our Strat customers come in all shapes and sizes.
Level
This job is an IC2. You can read more about our job leveling philosophy in our Handbook.
Compensation
We pay you an above-average salary because we want to hire the best people who are fully focused on helping Sourcegraph succeed, not worried about paying bills. You will have the flexibility to work and live anywhere in the world (unless specified otherwise in the job description), and we’ll never take your location or current/past salary information into account when determining your compensation. As an open and transparent company that values equitable and competitive compensation for everyone, our compensation ranges are visible to every single Sourcegraph Teammate. To determine your salary, we use a number of market and data-driven salary sources and target the high-end of the range, ensuring that we’re always paying above market regardless of where you live in the world.
The target compensation for this role is $141,500 USD base.
In addition to our cash compensation, we offer equity (because when we succeed as a company, we want you to succeed, too) and generous perks & benefits.

Who We Are
Float is the world’s leading software for teams to plan their time. Launched in 2012, we’ve grown every year since, and remain proudly independent, self-funded and profitable. We’re a team of 46 working 100% remotely and you’ll be partnering with team members distributed across the world including Australia, Canada, Mexico and Taiwan. Hear what our team has to say by browsing our blog, or reading our Glassdoor reviews. Check out what our customers think of Float from our G2 reviews.
We’re on a scale up journey, and we’re seeking people who thrive in this stage, given the autonomy, and the opportunity, to do the best work of their career.
Why We’re Hiring For This Role
Our front-end team is responsible for our customer facing applications which are the primary method by which our customers get their value from Float. We support a web application, an iOS app, an Android app, and a desktop app (Electron), all of which share a considerable amount of code, and they are only getting bigger.
As our product continues to grow our customer base continues to grow with it. We are seeking a skilled engineer to help move things forward and also to provide the all important coverage and maintenance to ensure that we can continue to deliver the high quality experience that our customers have come to expect.
That’s where you come in.
You’ll join a smart, capable group of engineers specifically focused on the web application, ensuring that the primary vehicle to deliver value remains exactly that. You’ll be helping to push forward the state of the art in web-based resource management, allowing customers to make the most of their time and providing value far beyond our cost.
We have some ambitious goals as a company and in order to fulfill them, we have some equally ambitious goals for our web application. We’re keen to be able to support our customers as they become more successful and grow, and this ever-increasing growth is starting to challenge some of our older systems. We’re eager to re-imagine our front-end so that we are able to support customers that are multiples the size of our current larger customer.
In this role, you’ll be an integral member of the team, contributing regular impactful changes and improvements to an application used for significant intervals of time each day by over 4,000 customers.
Our Team Lead, Haakon, explains the important role you will play within our Interfaces team. Watch this video. You’ll be working asynchronously with a bright, dedicated team from across the globe, with a strong focus on taking complex problems and creating solutions that feel simple and intuitive for our customers.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
You’ll join our web application team and after an initial familiarization process you’ll likely find yourself leading a product-focused project in an upcoming cycle – perhaps bringing to life our project reports with improved charts and visualizations, or adding delight to every interaction of our onboarding experience. You’ll be responsible for discussing the specification with the Product and Design stakeholders, understanding the problem to be solved and satisfying yourself that we are able to produce a deliverable satisfying any constraints - performance being a key one.
Over time, you’ll likely specialize in some particular area of our application based on the overall front-end architecture, being responsible for resolving any regressions or bugs within that area as well as being the point of contact for any customer-sourced queries or similar.
As you become more comfortable with the product as a whole, it would be expected that you become more involved in the wider-ranging discussions on the future direction of our front-end architecture, and in particular how we can ensure that our web application can evolve to support our ambitious scaling goals, whether that be by wholesale rewrites of certain areas or strategic incremental changes or even simply more process & guidelines around how to develop within this performance-critical area.
You will quickly become a core member of the team, responsible for customer visible aspects of our product, working with our User Experience team to understand how our customers work with our product and how they want to use it, so that we can help them to make the most of it.
What You’ll Need To Be Successful
We’re looking for a strong, seasoned engineer with at least six years experience in leading and shipping successful and demanding projects to a global audience, working as part of a small focused team to deliver objectives, being comfortable managing your time and communicating clearly with other members of the team.
You’ll be excited and eager to work on a sophisticated web application and solve data and presentation problems in a performant manner for our world-wide user-base. You’ll understand the commitment that requires but also the fascinating challenges it can present.
You’d be described by your colleagues as a React expert and are completely comfortable working in an application written with React combined with Redux and Reselect for the state management aspects.
You have a passion for usability and able to account for the needs and ergonomics of both the end users of our interfaces, and the developers that will build them.
With respect to styling, we favor a CSS-in-JS approach that does not rely heavily on utility classes—no Tailwind here!
We’re currently in the process of migrating our front-end codebase to TypeScript, so familiarity with that is crucial.
In addition, you should be familiar with Jest or Vitest for all things testing and should be comfortable operating in a monorepo environment.
Experience with the following would be a big plus:
- Building Android and iOS apps with React Native
- Implementing Design Systems as a means to bridge the gap between design and development and provide a consistent user experience
- Accommodating accessibility standards and best-practices
- Working with distributed systems & event-based architectures at scale
Finally, you should be very comfortable working asynchronously, since the nature of our Engineering team is that we are distributed around the world. We rely on clear, concise, and proactive written communication to ensure we all have clarity and that any problems are raised in good time so we have the necessary time to react. You will have the freedom to set your own schedule and the autonomy to do so - provided you continue to deliver and communicate, we’re very hands-off on how you structure your days.
Why Join Us
Pay for this role is US $161,475. Here’s a blog post with more information on how we determine our salaries.
We’re a global async remote company with a erse team of people from all over the world who share a common belief in living our best work life. If you feel like you can thrive at Float to do your best work, we would love to hear from you.
_Note: Industry research shows that women and those in traditionally underrepresented groups generally don’t apply to jobs unless they check all the boxes for the role. Head of Backend
Remote
Engineering
Full time
At Doist, we’re building the future of work.
We’re a multidisciplinary, fully-remote, team that’s passionate about creating products, like Todoist and Twist, that improve people’s lives. We thrive on innovating new solutions to old productivity challenges and we seek to rethink how productivity tools are made.
Our Core Values
They are few, but they are mighty. From creating processes to decision-making and recruiting, we build our five core values into nearly every single thing we do.
- Ambition. You aspire to put a dent in the universe. You set high standards for yourself and those around you. You solve issues that have a high impact on our customers and our company.
- Mastery. You care deeply about the quality of your work. You’re continuously learning and pushing yourself to the limits of your ability. As a champion of your craft, you are also a champion of your well-being – you work intensely, then disconnect completely.
- Independence. Others can trust that you’ll deliver on time. You keep your word and trust your teammates to do the same. You are proactive, take ownership, and remain accountable with little or no direction.
- Communication. Your communication is clear, concise, and engaging. You keep others in the loop and never go radio silent. You speak respectfully and foster warm relationships through your interactions. You’re culturally and socially aware and can appropriately navigate social situations.
We invite you to visit our blog to learn more about us, our values, and how we work.
About the role
We are looking for a leader for our Backend team who is highly technical and passionate about creating and maintaining high-quality software that powers long-lasting products, namely Todoist and Twist.
Both are monolithic Python applications, built using a homegrown framework similar to Flask and in the beginnings of a transition to FastAPI. We use AWS extensively, including Aurora, SQS, and ECS Fargate.
You will:
- Grow, support, and empower a world-class team of 11 Backend Engineers (including 3 Leads) who are autonomous, productive, and fulfilled. You will be responsible for setting the team up for success while coaching and providing guidance along the way.
- Foster continuous improvement while reorganizing the team’s workflows and processes as context changes. You will ensure that tooling and workflows are appropriate, and facilitate team brainstorms while driving and documenting high-level ideas, goals, and best practices. You will foster knowledge sharing.
- Drive the vision, technical strategy, and technical roadmap for the team and its technology stack. You will do this in an egalitarian way, often facilitating discussions and delegating decision-making. You will do this at scale, serving tens of millions of users and billions of data items.
- Plan and prioritize company-wide initiatives, coordinating and communicating with various technical and non-technical stakeholders, such as other Engineering teams, Product, or Customer Experience.
- Plan and prioritize internal initiatives that pay back debt and modernize our systems, contributing to each work cycle by reviewing priorities, availability, and optimal matching of people to projects. You will periodically share updates so that everyone is aware of what’s going on behind the scenes.
- Contribute to shared values, standards, and processes with other Engineering leaders, ultimately shaping up Engineering at Doist as a whole. You will report to the CTO.
About you
It’s important to us that the person we hire will thrive in this role. Here are some core things we believe will set you up for success:
- Having ambition, drive, and experience in building long-lasting codebases and APIs that serve millions of real customers and are continuously improved and modernized.
- Being technical and hands-on. You understand that engineering management is a technical discipline that requires engaging in technical decision-making. You realize that strong technical instincts and continuously honing them is vital for thriving in that process.
- Building teams primarily based on trust, autonomy, and transparency. You provide high-level vision in a way that’s inspiring to pursue and easy to understand, while carefully incorporating input from the team and spreading ownership over its execution.
- Supporting and mentoring a resilient team while investing in each person’s inidual growth. You realize that leadership comes with responsibility and restraint and that your topmost priority is the motivation and well-being of your team.
- Focusing on the long-term and uncompromising in your and Doist’s values. You want to join a remote-first company that’s multicultural and distributed worldwide, and you’re looking to commit to this challenge for many years.
Requirements
Not sure the role is a good fit for you? That’s okay! We’d still be happy to consider you. Here’s what the process looks like:
- Submit your complete application by October 30 at 2PM UTC. This includes a resume (or manually entered experience) and thoughtful responses to all the application questions. No cover letter needed!
- Application screening. We read every application to understand your motivation, skills, and experience. Once your application has been reviewed, you’ll receive a response regarding the status of your application.
- Value alignment interview with Gonçalo Silva, our CTO & interim Head of Backend.
- Take-home test project. This will be your opportunity to showcase your role-specific skills.
- Role-specific interview with Andrew Mleczko, a member of our Backend team.

We exist as the antidote to scammers within the casino industry.
CSGOEmpire creates products that are fun to use, provide great value for players, and most importantly, are honest, transparent, and provide a fair experience.
But our mission isn’t easy. And many stand in our way.
The scene is filled with scammers and exploiters looking to lie and cheat their way to big paydays. Empire has stood in their way many times, from the CSGODiamonds scandal back in 2018 to the CSGORoll files in 2023. Stopping scammers is a strong part of our identity — it's something we deeply believe in and think is crucial for the safety and growth of the industry.
Joining us is a commitment - a commitment to a future where people can gamble safely, fairly, and openly, with an operator that always pays out wins and with games that can be verified to be provably fair.
Joining us means standing against those that look to cheat and steal from our customers and our community.
If you’re ready to commit, if you’re ready to take a stand, then a career with us might be your next big move.

- Character: We seek iniduals who bring a unique personality and a compelling story. Whether you've started your own casino project or found a critical exploit in a system, your distinctiveness is your strength.
- Competence: We're a lean, tight-knit team full of top-tier talent. Excellence isn't a “nice to have”; it's a baseline requirement.

Here’s what’s in it for you:
- Competitive compensation: Our junior developers make $60k per year.
- A mission like no other: Make the industry a better place, make a lot of money, create compelling products, and fight evil.
- Fully remote: Work from anywhere, just sync with Central European time by 3-4 hours.
- Limited meetings: We keep meetings to a minimum and communicate almost entirely via Discord, Slack and Jira.
- No micromanagement: We hire the best so we trust them to deliver results.
- Flexible schedule: You set your schedule, just ensure consistent availability during the Monday-Friday, 9 to 5 Central European time window.
- Unlimited room for growth: Those that can surpass expectations can have a place on our team forever. And they’ll be greatly rewarded.
How We Hire
We have a merit-based recruitment process because we want to hire the best people. So University degrees aren’t a requirement for any role, and we have no such thing as a ersity quota.
Your application will be considered holistically. For example, someone with a marketing degree applying for an influencer management role but no industry contacts would not be chosen over a high school dropout that has a deep network and a history of structuring great deals.
On the other hand, a degree could be a big plus for a research assistant application as it proves your ability to persevere and focus on high-level tasks. It’s all about context.
So if you think you’re the best, it doesn’t matter who you are or where you come from — introduce yourself.
After submitting an initial application, here’s the usual process for shortlisted candidates:
- Let your skills shine through a technical assessment
- Join us for an interview and Q+A with a Senior Dev from our team + HR
- We make an offer
We try our best to respond to every application. But sometimes this isn't possible due to the large application volume. If you don't hear from us in 2-3 weeks, it means that we've most likely progressed with other candidates.

Candidate Interview Guide
Senior Frontend Engineer
Alma is seeking a mission-driven Frontend Engineer to join one of our newest teams, Support/Internal Tools. We are dedicated to building tools and services which help our providers more easily manage and grow their practice. In this role, you will be building features that solve real problems for mental health providers. The ideal candidate is able to recognize that successful software development requires communication, experimentation, and iteration.
The Support / Internal Tools squad will introduce tools and resources that decrease providers’ (and ultimately, clients’) reliance on the CX team, and allows for providers and clients to more easily answer questions, or solve problems without the support of an Ops member. Additionally, the squad will be responsible for maturing our operational processes (particularly for the activation and CX teams) by implementing new internal tooling that allows for increased operational efficiencies.
On this scaling team, you will have a strong hand in defining Alma’s features, services, and architecture. The ideal person for this role loves to collaborate with other teams to design and build amazing digital experiences.
What you’ll do:
- Gain a deep understanding of what Alma providers do, how they operate, and where their pain points are.
- Design, develop, and implement maintainable and scalable client-side features using modern front-end web technologies (HTML, CSS, Webpack, React).
- Develop both member-facing and internal-facing features around onboarding, scheduling, billing, and client management.
- Collaborate with teammates, PMs, and designers to conceptualize and build solutions for practical problems facing Alma members.
- Ensure applications and services meet Alma’s standards for software including performance, scalability, and security.
Who you are:
- You have 4+ years of experience building web experiences
- You enjoy customer-centered software development and collaborating closely with a team of engineers, designers, and product managers.
- You possess a desire to experiment, (succeed or fail), and use research and data, where appropriate, to make data-driven decisions.
- You have extensive experience with web technologies. We are language agnostic in our interviews but require experience with one or more common web frameworks (React, Angular, etc.).
- You are proficient with CSS preprocessors (Sass, Less, etc.).
- You have an understanding of accessibility and semantic HTML.
- You have experience interacting with APIs.
- You have experience writing frontend unit tests in a testing platform such as jest or mocha.
- You have a proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git.
Benefits:
- We’re a remote-first company
- Health insurance plans through Cigna (medical and dental) and MetLife (vision), including FSA & HSA plans
- 401k plan (Roth and traditional)
- Free Alma platform access
- Monthly therapy and wellness stipends
- Monthly co-working space membership stipend
- Monthly work-from-home stipend to power your wifi, lunches, coffee, etc
- Pet discount program through United Pet Care
- Financial perks and rewards through BenefitHub
- Free EAP access through LifeWorks
- One-time home office stipend to set up your home office
- Comprehensive parental leave plans
- 9 paid holidays, 1 Alma Mental Health Day, and 1 Alma Volunteering Day
- Flexible PTO
Salary Band: $160,000 – $200,000
Time zones: EST (UTC -5), CST (UTC -6), MST (UTC -7), PST (UTC -8), AKST (UTC -9), AST (UTC -4)
We're a small, rapidly growing software agency looking to add another senior-level software developer to our team to help balance our workloads.
About us (the good and the bad
- We're a team of 3.5, so pretty small.
- We're all developers here, so we understand that estimates aren't always accurate, software takes time, and sometimes things take more time than initially expected - all par for the course.
- We're a services company, so there's a wide variety of different things you'd be working on, and there are often changes in priorities from week-to-week and month-to-month.
- We do a mix of ground-up development for startups (creating new web apps from scratch), automation work, and work on existing codebases.
- A lot of our work is MVP & product-focused, meaning we often value shipping small, functional, but imperfect pieces of functionality rather than highly-scalable subsystems.
- Our primary tech is Next.js (v13 with pages directory), Vercel, React, Typescript, Prisma, PostgreSQL, Twilio, Sendgrid, and NextAuth; but we occasionally have work that veers into Python, Flutter, Rust, Node.js, AWS (mainly lambdas and s3), VBA, Zapier, and Airtable (I try to steer us away from Airtable though).
